Giuliana Poveda: Pan Am’s First World Champion

Peru’s Giuliana Poveda made history by becoming Pan Am’s first Para badminton world champion. In an intense final, she defeated the reigning champion, Rachel Choong (ENG), with an impressive score of 21-9 and 21-19. Poveda’s journey to the top was not an easy one, as she triumphed over players from the United States, Poland, Ukraine, Egypt, and England. Vitor Tavares: A Three-Medal Winner

Brazil’s Vitor Tavares displayed his prowess on the court by winning three bronze medals during the World Championships. In the Singles event, Tavares emerged victorious against notable athletes from Scotland, the United States, Canada, and England. However, he faced a formidable opponent, Chun Yim Wong from Hong Kong, in the semifinals, resulting in a loss.
