Malaysia Advances to Suhandinata Cup Final

Malaysia has secured a spot in the final of the prestigious Suhandinata Cup after a remarkable comeback in the semi-final match against Thailand. This marks the first time since their victory in the BWF World Junior Mixed Team Championships in 2011 that Malaysia’s young shuttlers have reached the final of this tournament.

Led by Lee Zii Jia in Men’s Singles, Goh Jin Wei in Women’s Singles, and the Men’s Doubles pairing of Chen Tang Jie and Man Wei Chong, Malaysia triumphed with a 3-1 win. Despite Thailand winning the opening Mixed Doubles match, Malaysia quickly regained control and won the next three matches in straight sets.

Lee started the comeback by defeating Wangcharoen Kantaphon, followed by Goh’s convincing victory over Pornpawee Chochuwong. Chen and Man sealed the victory with a stellar performance in Men’s Doubles. The Malaysian team rejoiced with their well-deserved win, while Thailand accepted defeat.

Malaysia Team Manager Dato Syed Abu Bakar Abdullah expressed his delight with the team’s performance and acknowledged the challenges ahead in the final against defending champions China. Despite the tough competition, Malaysia remains optimistic and determined to give their best.

In the other semi-final, China demonstrated their dominance by sweeping Japan 3-0. China, aiming for their 11th championship, proved to be a formidable force against a spirited Japanese team. With a solid performance in Men’s Doubles, China advanced to the final, leaving Japan disappointed.
