China Dominates at the Victor Korea Open 2014

China’s badminton prowess was on full display at the Victor Korea Open 2014, the first MetLife BWF World Superseries event of the year. The Chinese team celebrated four victories, only missing out on the Men’s Doubles title. This article will recap the highlights of the finals and showcase the outstanding performances of the Chinese players.

Men’s Doubles

The only setback for China was in the Men’s Doubles finals, where Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen of Denmark triumphed over Fu Haifeng and Hong Wei. Boe and Mogensen showcased their skills and capitalized on Hong’s shortcomings, leaving no room for error. Nonetheless, China’s overall performance was exceptional.

Singles Showdowns

In the singles category, China dominated the finals. Chen Long demonstrated his prowess by defeating Lee Chong Wei, the world’s top-ranked player. Chen Long’s quick reactions and all-court skills secured him a comfortable win of 21-14, 21-15.

In the Women’s Singles final, Wang Yihan outplayed Ratchanok Intanon, winning the match with a score of 21-13, 21-19 in 46 minutes. While Intanon had a good start to the year, she struggled to find her rhythm against the experienced Wang.

In the Women’s Doubles, Bao Yixin and Tang Jinhua continued their winning streak by beating their compatriots Luo Ying and Luo Yu. Bao and Tang displayed an aggressive playing style, with their fluid partnership and experience leading them to a sixth victory in seven tournaments.

The Mixed Doubles final, an all-China affair, saw Olympic champions Zhang Nan and Zhao Yunlei emerge victorious against Xu Chen and Ma Jin. Zhang and Zhao’s polished skills were evident as they retained their Korea Open title with a score of 21-18, 21-18.

With an impressive performance across multiple categories, China has set the bar high for the upcoming badminton season.
