Badminton Pan America

Our Pan Am champions have achieved remarkable success at the NSDF Royal Beach Cliff BWF Para Badminton World Championships 2024, held in Pattaya, Thailand. The event witnessed the participation of talented Pan Am players from Barbados, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Mexico, Peru, and the United States.

Exceptional Performances by Pan Am Players

Pilar Jauregui from Peru demonstrated her remarkable skill by clinching the silver medal in Singles and a bronze medal in Mixed Doubles. As the defending champion, Jauregui dominated the competition as the top seed in Singles WH2. She emerged victorious in Group A after defeating players from Australia and Egypt. Her impressive run continued as she secured a spot in the final after defeating strong opponents, such as Ginns (AUS) in the Quarter-Finals and Yamazaki (JPN) in the Semifinals. Although she narrowly missed the gold medal, Jauregui’s exceptional performance earned her a well-deserved silver medal.

Jauregui also displayed her prowess in the Mixed Doubles category, where she teamed up with Yuri Ferrigno (ITA). Together, they battled their way to the bronze medal, defeating pairs from the Czech Republic/Poland and Thailand. Although they lost in the semifinals against Qu Zi/Liu (CHN), Jauregui and Ferrigno exhibited remarkable skills throughout the tournament.

Remarkable Achievements in SH6 Category

In the SH6 category, our Parapan Am Games champions left their mark with exhilarating matches. Miles Krajewski and Jayci Simon (USA) showcased their talent by securing the bronze medal in Mixed Doubles. They displayed exceptional skills as they defeated players from Hong Kong China and India. Despite their loss in the semifinals against Lin/Li (CHN), Krajewski and Simon’s performance was commendable.

Krajewski also partnered with Vitor Tavares (BRA) to claim another bronze medal in Men’s Doubles. Together, they defeated duos from Peru and Canada, securing a spot on the podium alongside Jesus Salva and Nilton Quispe (PER).

Among the Pan Am athletes, Vitor Tavares stood out by winning a bronze medal in Men’s Singles. He showcased his talent and determination by defeating players from France, Mexico, China, and India to reach the semifinals. Although he faced a tough opponent, Krishna Nagar (IND), in the semifinals, Tavares displayed remarkable skill and resilience.

Resilient Performances by World Champions

Giuliana Poveda and Rubi Fernandez, the World Champions of 2022, showcased their talent and resilience at the championships. Although they were unable to defend their title, they displayed exceptional teamwork and skills. They secured a bronze medal in Doubles after defeating duos from Ukraine, Hong Kong China, and Egypt/USA in thrilling matches. Poveda also achieved individual success by capturing a bronze medal in Singles, earning victories against players from India, Hong Kong China, and Poland. Despite her loss in the semifinals against Lin (CHN), Poveda’s performance solidified her position among the top players in the world.
