Three out of four seeded pairs in the men’s doubles play today for a spot in the final at the European Games. The top seeds, Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen, had an intense quarterfinal match against France’s Ronan Labar and Thom Gicquel, which they won with a score of 23-21, 20-22, 21-17. Astrup commented on the challenging game, saying, “It could have gone either way today. They played a great game and made it very difficult for us. We tried our best, and I am very happy that we pulled through after a tough day.”

Vladimir Ivanov and Ivan Sozonov, the silver medallists from Baku 2015, also secured their spot in the final by defeating Alex Vlaar and Dimitar Yanakiev from Bulgaria with a score of 21-15, 21-18. Ivanov mentioned the difficulties they faced, stating, “It was a very difficult arena for us today. The shuttles were fast, and the Bulgarians played very well.” Sozonov added, “It was hard to get control on the net, and our soft play was not good because we did not have control of the shuttle.”

Second seeds Marcus Ellis and Chris Langridge won their match against the Finnish pair Anton Kaisti and Oskari Larkimo in straight games. Reflecting on their performance, Jelle Maas said, “We played amazing. It is hard to describe what we felt on the court.” Additionally, Jelle Maas and Robin Tabeling knocked out German fourth seeds Mark Lamsfuss and Marvin Seidel with a score of 16-21, 21-17, 21-18.
